PLEASE NOTE: During the COVID-19 pandemic we are working hard to continue to offer our Cat Genetic Testing Service. However, due to reduced staffing levels results may be delayed by up to 5 working days. For queries and advice please email catgenetics@langfordvets.co.uk and we will get back to you as soon as we can, we thank you for your patience.
We suggest you send one swab per animal if you live in the UK and two swabs per animal if you live outside the UK.
Please remember to include your FULL postal address, post code/ZIP code and country - we can't send you swabs without ALL of this information!
After some testing in our laboratory, we have recently changed from FLOQ swabs to cytobrushes (see the image above). These are soft brushes, which give good DNA yields when used correctly and perform better than FLOQ swabs when exposed to variable temperatures (as often occurs during postage to us, especially in the summer months). We hope this change will decrease the instances where we request owners to send in another swab, therefore speeding up our service. If you have FLOQ swabs that we sent you previously, there is no need to discard them, you can still use them, but next time you request swabs you will receive cytobrushes instead.
