Mariette graduated from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. She worked as a companion animal veterinarian for four years in the Netherlands and New Zealand. In 2016, she undertook a rotating internship at the University of Glasgow, followed by a specialised soft tissue surgery internship at Fitzpatrick Referrals.

In July 2019, Mariette joined the Langford Vets Small Animal Referral Hospital as a surgery resident, and she is studying for her European Diploma in Small Animal Surgery.

Outside of work, Mariette enjoys hiking, yoga, and spending time with her cats.
